WELCOME

Welcome to Pillar Church of Crestview!

To help visitors understand how we gather as a church, we have provided a description of our weekly service below. Generally, our services are characterized by solemn contemplation of the Bible and its doctrines, passionate corporate singing, and friendly interaction with one another and our guests.

VISITING PILLAR

What to Expect

Service

As we begin our time of worship, we sing several songs, offer prayers and hear Scripture read. Preaching at Pillar Church is generally expositional, meaning that it seeks to declare the point of a particular Biblical passage. Sermons usually last around 35 – 45 minutes and are packed with material for reflection. All preaching is driven by the Gospel, the Bible’s main message of God saving sinners through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. After the sermon, we sing a song or two in response to what was preached and then close in prayer.

Post-Service

A typical service is finished by 11:30 am. Those who wish to help tear-down and clean up do so, while others tend to stay after to spend time discussing the sermon or events from the past week over a cup of coffee.

Music

The music we sing at Pillar Church is a mix of modern and timeless. We love the doctrinally rich hymns and we find blessing in the choruses of the twenty-first century. Most of us who are comfortable with music from one particular era have discovered, while at Pillar, that we have come to enjoy other songs we had not previously encountered. We strongly prefer congregational singing, which emphasizes the gathered body singing praise to God with one voice, over performed music, which tends to spotlight the abilities of some while encouraging passivity in the rest.

Listen to all the songs we sing in our Sunday morning worship service on a regular basis!

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

What about my kids?

We have children’s ministry programs available during the worship service for all children birth to 7 years old.

We care about your child’s safety.
All our volunteers are background checked. They are also required to have gone through and passed MinistrySafe Training before being allowed to serve with our children.

We care about security.
Our electronic check-in system ensures you are the only person that can pick up your child after service.

We care about your child’s spiritual growth.
We use The Gospel Project for Kids, a curriculum that illustrates how every story in the Bible centers around the cross.

FAQ

Questions?

Why do you meet in a school?

We gather in a school because it has been a great place for us to serve our community and has a lot of space for the church to expand and grow. It is also relatively inexpensive. We look forward to a time in the future where we have a dedicated meeting space but we are more concerned about the people in our community growing in Christ than the building we gather in.

What should I wear?

We are not worried about how you are dressed. Most people wear whatever they would wear to hang out with friends and family, because that’s what we are.

What kind of church is Pillar?

Our music is a mix of modern and timeless. Our people are from diverse backgrounds of all kinds. Our goal is to live a gospel-centered and Christ-exalting life. Our aim is to be accessible to new seekers and substantive for long time believers. We are theologically Baptist. We cooperate in our mission with other Great Commission Baptists. We aim to be a people that care about what the Bible says above all else. The best way to answer the question is to come spend a Sunday with us! If you want to find our more about our values and beliefs, check out those pages on our website!
